Roadside Experiences

Soon after the turn of the millennium, a newly opened roadside restaurant commissioned a series of ten watercolor paintings of roadside flowers to enhance the interior of their countryside establishment. The place had a darkish interior and was located on the side of a winding road in northern Westchester County, New York. I created twenty or so watercolor paintings using flowers I found growing along the roadside nearby. The restaurant selected those paintings they liked the best. The flowing water-themed Takakkaw Falls and Takakkaw Creek watercolors were placed near the bar, while the flowers brought light to tables in a cozy corner area. I selected fourteen examples to illustrate this series.
